How can I turn off the sleep mode for my Canon MX410?

I would like instructions on turning off the sleep mode on my Canon MX410.

Hi Julia,

There is not a way to disable the sleep mode of the printer; however, the printer should automatically come out of the sleep mode once it receives a print, copy, fax or scan command.

It does not come out of sleep mode and then my computer doesn't recognize that it's there and I have to reconnect.
