I have a Pixma MG5420 and just upgraded to Xfinity XF1 Gateway. Now my printer does not work. Xfinity has done a restart/refresh to no avail. Canon or Comcast problem or user error?

If you are using a wired or wireless network connection, I'd refer to it as User Action Required, not user error.
Re-establishing a Network Connection After A Router Change:
or, start over. Delete the printer from your computer and perform set up again. This will allow you to re-establish the printer's connection to your network and re-install it on your system again. See section on initial setup:
