Getting an Information Acquisition Error when installing PIXMA MG2520

When I use the CD to install the Quick Start it picks up an old MG3100 series printer that I no longer have.  Even after uninstalling it.  Then when I go online and try to set up it gives me an Information Acquisition Error . 

It says. 

Failed to acquire information on the driver and software.  Check the connection and try again.

Connections look to be fine.

exactly the same problem. i had to upgrade to the Mx494 precisely because CAnon no longer supported my previous MX on high sierra. i was expressly told that the MX 494 supported high sierra. it doesn't. i get the same message. i really wish Canon would get its act together.
