G7020 will not connect to macbook USB

MarthaM

Every time I go to use my practically brand new G7020 I have to re-install the printer or it will not print. Except sometimes it works if I restart my computer. I am so frustrated. I have never been able to just sit down and print with printer since I got it. I have read the community messages many times (every time I sit down to print and it won't work) and cannot find anything that helps. I thought maybe I needed to give it a static IP address like someone said in another post, but it won't let me do that.

I don't want to use wifi because I use a direct ethernet to connect to the internet for work. I did try it, though, just in case that was the problem, but that didn't work either. The computer consistently tells me it cannot find the printer. I thought it was my old computer but I just got a new one and it has the same problem. Scanning also doesn't work. It just tells me over and over again that it cannot find the printer. Then randomly it will start printing. I have no idea why it's working when it does work. Help?

I have a macbook pro running Ventura 13.5
