G6020 makes screeching noise

recently purchased the G6020 and the very first time i turned it on it made an awful screeching noise - now it sounds like a barking dog every time i turn it on or after it finishes printing (i've printed 4 test pages and one document).

is there a fix? (and yes, i've unplugged it and waited a few minutes before trying again - same noise)

should i return the printer?
