Does your macbook detect the printer? what printer drivers did you install? I'm not entirely sure how to navigate on Mac but it should be in printers and devices. You should be able to the status of the printer driver if your computer detects it. Try to highlight your printer and go to properties and if possible include a screenshot of what you see when you give us an update.
