Canon Pixma MG7720 not printing black on pictures

Rossitsa

Hello!

My MG7720 is not printing black on pictures. I tried all the obvious stuff: changing the cartridge, cleaning the heads, deep cleaning... nothing works. I am using a glossy photo 4x6 paper, printing from Photoshop, and the printer automatically detects the paper, so I can't override the 'glossy' setting (I have been reading here that one can switch to the PGBK cartridge by selecting a different type of paper). is that the only way I can have pictures printed, and if yes, then how do I do it?

Thank you!

Thanks for your quick response, Ron. I've isolated the problem to Office Picture Manager - which was the default jpg program. Changing to the Windows (10) Photo program made the same pix print black and color fine. Good to know this forum help is available for any future problems.

Hello.

If the PGBK black ink is not printing correctly after cleanings have been done, service may be required.  If you are printing on photo paper, make sure that you are specifying the correct media type is being specified in the printer driver on the computer before you send the print job.

My Proxima printer will not print black when printing a jpg photo. Color prints OK. It prints black and color if I embed the photo in a Word document. Tried a different printer driver and reset the data on the printer. No change. Any suggestions appreciated.
