Hello,
I have owned a Canon MX922 printer for a number of years. Recently, in the middle of a print job it errored out with a 1403 support code informing me that an incorrect print head was installed. I reseated the print head, but still got the same error code. I bought a new print head and installed it, but still received this same error.
Any idea on how to fix this issue?
Thank you,
Paul

First, I have a disaster of my printer not working due to Error Code 1403, but then you tell me that I need to buy another printer... and I'll "get a discount". "Call this number" and the phone number to call is nonfunctioning. Way to go Canon. Will you refund me the price of all the new ink I just put into my nonfunctioning printer?

Hi all
I would like to give a little hope to all people about the notorious error 1403 : my (winning) experience
I own a MG5550. Many years of work until the 1403 came up. Search on Internet for solutions but no way. The printer was left aside for one year and more. Then my son arranged to buy a new one as a next Christmas present and of course I have appreciated the gift but stubbornly tried a last attemp to fix the old one
So just took a contact's cleaner spray and generously sprayed the head's contacts, some seconds to let the substance doing its job then with a clean cloth tried to gentle remove oxides or grease with a light pressure. Same treatment on contacts within the printer where the head rests when in place
It worked and error 1403 has disappeared. Actually just after the cleaning appeared one time : switched off and then on and the printer is live again. Due to long time of no use nozzles are obstructed and a deep cleaning will be necessary but the error code is no longer present
I believe that time, dust and other factors had produced a thin oxidation layer between head's copper pads and the pins on the board inside the printer so the electrical contact was faulty producing the 1403 error. Moreover the sledge you pull/press to extract/hold the printer's head is used to "press" the contact pads with the pins on the back to ensure a good electrical connection but the contact area is really minimal indeed so a little stain can produce the problem.
Cleaning product (sorry : I am not trying to advertise but just being specific) "WD-40 Specialist Contacts Cleaner" (I have translated from Italian not sure the product has same exactly that name overseas)
Will it work also for you ? I really hope so. Before sending your Canon printer to garbage collection give a try : it does not cost much and, like me, could solve the issue.
And let me know the results
maurizio
