Canon MX892 wireless prints w/ Win 8.1 but will not SCAN to pc using Canon sw that makes PDF.

I just bought two windows8.1 laptops for my home/business.  I use a Canon MX892 wireless printer/scanner.  They print fine but WILL NOT scan to either new PC.  Scan works fine on my old VISTA.  I have downloaded the software (MP Navigator EX 5.1, etc.) and I did take note of the Windows 8.1 64 bit - it is correct.

 

When I click on the Canon Quick Menu the Scan line is blank.  When I try to Scan using the buttons on the printer, it scans, but will not send it to my new PC, only my old VISTA and USB are options.  The Preferences dialog from Quick Menu is blank for scanner and I can't select anything or type anything.  I have enabled sharing and bi-directional support.

 

Please help.  I have read everything online I can find and no luck. 

 

The Windows Scan works but not to PDF so that is not an option.  I need PDF.

 

Is there any other freeware that would work for making a PDF?

The latest version of MP Navigator compatible with the PIXMA MX892 can be downloaded from the Canon USA website here. Once on the page, please do the following:

 

1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" field is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system. Please note that you may need to scroll up or down in the list to select your operating system.

 

2. Next, please click on the box labeled "SOFTWARE", locate the MP NAVIGATOR program file, then click the SELECT button to the right of the filename. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear; please click on that button to start the file download.

 

3. Once you have downloaded the file, please double-click on it and follow the prompts to install the software on your computer.

Hello middlejs.

 

In order to scan, the IJ Scan Utility and IJ Network Scan Utility will have to be set up properly. 

 

Please try the following to see if we can resolve your issue:

 

1.  On your keyboard, press the 'Windows' key.  This is usually on the lower left corner.

2.  Begin typing Canon IJ Network.

3.  Go to Canon IJ Network Scan Utility.

4.  Open the Canon IJ Network Scan Utility.

 

Once this has been done, a small scanner icon should appear near your clock on the bottom corner of the screen.

Next, follow these steps:

 

1.  Open the Canon IJ Scan Utility on your Desktop or the Canon Utilities listing of the Start Menu.

2.  Click Settings.

3.  Click the General Settings tab on the left.  The icon resembles tools.

4.  In the Product dropdown menu, select the Network version of the printer.

5.  Click OK.

 

Once this has been done, try scanning from the IJ Scan Utility to test the connection.  Then try scanning from the operator panel of the printer.

I am trying find the download for the Navigator EX 5.1 for the MX892
