Canon MX880 Series Printer Problem

Just-Wanna-Know

After about every 20 or 30 pages of prining, I must wait a full 2 minutes for the printer to go through a series of - I guess - realigning.  I have one of these printers at home and two at the office... all do the same annoying thing.  Can anyone help, or is this just the nature of this printer?  Everything else about the printer is terrific, but because of these repeat delays, I doubt I'd ever purchase a Canon printer again!  Just-Wann-Know

Hi Just-Wanna-Know,

The PIXMA MX882 performs a purge operation after a set amount of printing.  This is to ensure that all prints from the machine are printed correctly (colors accurate, no streaks, etc.).  It also performs this process when the PIXMA MX882 is first turned on and when turned off.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, it's very much appreciated.  Okay... this operation soundes like it happens for a good reason.  However, it drives me nuts and, independenct of my annoyance, I've come to learn that it's driving my office staff nuts too (they use a seperate printer - same model - in another area of my office.  If there's no work around, I'm done with this printer (suffered with it/them for a couple of years now - maybe more).  Are their models that DON'T go through TWO MINUTES (I've timed in many times) of grunting and growning in the middle of a printing project?  It's really beyond acceptable.
