Canon MG6220 scanning to MacOS Monterrey 12.4 - "set the PC to start scanning" message

I have a Canon MG6220 printer/scanner.  I have a Mac desktop and Mac laptop that run on MacOS Monterrey 12.4.  I can print from both macs but when I try to scan from the canon device, I receive a message "set the PC to start scanning".  The Canon printer/scanner is connected to both macs over wifi.  Is there a solution so that I can scan to pdf or jpeg from the Canon MG6220 from my macs?

The MG6620was retired in 2020 and is not compatible with mac OS 12 Monterrey

Since the printer is not compatible with your operating system, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

Thanks very much for your response.  I will contact the Canon Sales Dept this week to replace my printer/scanner.  Thanks again.
