I'm trying to install my old printer from college to my mothers laptop. I've downloaded the driver from Canon's website, got through the installation process,, but when it goes to detect the printer, it asks me to please wait until printer is detected, then after awhile it says that printer cannot be detected, try unplugging the cable and plugging it back in, etc. I've done everything it recommends but can't seem to get it to work. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello.
Check to make sure that the printer is being connected directly to the laptop via USB. Avoid using USB hubs or extension devices to make the connection.
If the error remains, try using different ports on the laptop, or use a different USB cable.
