Call to Arms for the dreaded U052 Wrong Printhead Error

macnicol

This is a "call to arms" for all of you Canon customers who have had this problem and have had their printers disabled because of it.  Please respond with the model of your printer and if you were able to fix it, what you did to fix it.

We need to put pressure on Canon to respond this product defect.  It appears to be bad firmware that does not allow the user to override the problem and to continue to use the printer even in a degraded mode.  From my investigations the problem is NOT a printhead issue - no way one can be printing fine and then have this error alert without having changed the printhead or ink cartridges!

Canon, PLEASE take this issue seriously and provide a solution across the affected models.  If nothing else there should be a trade-in allowance for those printers that have been affected by this product defect.

I have had many Canon printers because they have superior functional specifications. I want to be able to continue using Canon products but only if I can have confidence that this product defect will not destroy my investment.

If Canon is unresponsive our next step should be to aggressively publisize this product defect on social media and on major product vendor outlet sites as negatives reviews.

Forum Users, please reply with your affected model number(s) and with details of any succdessful fix procedure.

Most of us here has a defective printer. How are we suppose to print it? Foiled again by canon. Milk cartons maybe? lol

Add me to the VERY long list of angry customers.  Just received the same stupid error on my MG5200.  Tried the suggested fix and it didn't work.  It's mind boggling how Canon is ignoring this many complaints.  Now I know what NOT to buy when replacing my printer.

MG5220-Same Error, cannot print

Wiredefx: I have a defective printer too, but while I wring my hands and am totally pissed at Canon, I have also gotten a new (NOT Canon) printer so I can continue with the projects necessary for my business.

Arrrggghhh, I thought it was because I was using compatible ink cartridges.... although they'd worked fine before.  All of a sudden I get this error message, so I went out and spent $100 on Canon cartridges and still it won't work.. and now I see this stream and realize I'm not the only one.  The sad thing is that Canon doesn't realize that each angry user is not just one lost sale, but a lifetime of sales net present value.  SOOOO annoying.  CANNOT believe it.

Add me to list of disgruntled customers with U052 wrong printhead error on my Canon MG5320!  I'm about ready to trash this printer and go buy a HP All in One which is much more dependable.

Me to, with the MX700. Yesterday I took the print head cartridge out, cleaned it with a rubbing alchohol and windex solution (1:4 mixture). Dried it all off, reinstalled, then succesfully printed a document I needed. I thought it was all good to go. However today I get the same UO52 message. Won't be buying any more Canon Copiers.

Well, I think I found the problem with my MP560. Was chatting with a repair center, they have found that in about 70% of these units the temp sensors were going bad. So I got mine out of the junk pile and took it apart and removed the sensors. Now I have to find someone to test them.
Evidently, if the sensor can't take the ink temp, the head can't heat the ink so the cpu faults out the print head for not doing its job. Poof U052. Will update once I get these tested.

My mg5460 also has the "Wrong Printhead " error message. Looks like I will not be buying any more Canon Products
