I am having 2 problems
Printer head alignment
my image garden does not see the scaner on the printer
Any help appreciated

Hi,
When you connected the printer did you select add printer on your computer or did you install the printer driver from the Canon website? IF you did not install the Canon driver, that could be part of the alignment issue?
If you are trying to perform the alignment directly from the printer, could you let us know if an error code appears when the alignment fails.
Also, check your computer for a Canon Utilities folder. In that folder should be a program called IJ Scan Utility. This program install with the Canon printer/scanner driver. If it is listed on your computer, open it and try to scan.
