B200 Printer now U502 Printhead Error; PIXMA MG 5320; ?Canon designed in death??

I was looking for the serial number at the bottom of printer where Canon said it was located, and had to turn the printer vertical to take pictures of bottom.  Now I get an error message stating B200 Printer Error has occurred.  Please disconnect power cord and contact service center.  Ocassionally it gives me a different message: U502 wrong printhead installed.  I have followed YouTube instructions to bypass B200 error screen.  I have removed printhead, cleaned carefully with alcohol and replaced... still U502.  I have tried hard reset (from YouTube: stop button 2 seconds, then add on button 2 seconds, then 5 on/off sequence of stop button, with last one letting go of stop and on buttons together); whirrs and clicks, screen goes blank, and blue light in center and yellow triangle error light alternate flashing... forever.  When turn off, wait, turn on, it's back to U502.  Is this the end of the line (i.e. Canon's designed death process that was settled in 2015 class action lawsuit), in which case I should just give up now?  Or is there a better solution?

Hi whswift,

Based on your description of the issue, it would appear that your PIXMA MG5320 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monady throuigh Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
