I have a Canon G7X which is connected to Canon Image Gateway. I have installed the image transfer utility on both a macbook air running osx 10.11 and a mac mini running osx 10.11. No matter what I do I can not get the camera to send images directly via image sync to either of the computers. Instead I always get the "send via server" message and the transfer is quite slow.
I have had the image transfer working previously, where it sent images directly without issues, but lately it stopped.
Any ideas? I have tried resetting wifi settings on the camera and also reinstalling the "image transfer utility.

I know this is an old post, but I was pulling my hair out over the same thing. Turns out the switch in my network had a "feature" for managing broadcast traffic that was turned on. Apparently that "feature" was stopping the camera from finding willing computers on the local network. I turn off that "feature" and suddenly all subsequent transfers were sending images direct to the computer.
Canon G16, iMac and Windows 10 machines.
