Unable to move images to trash when editing images

Have a new MacBook M1 Pro 32 GB Memory MacOS Monterey Version 12.1, having an issue with latest version of DPP when trying to cull images, when I try to move an image to the trash (command/delete) the only thing that happens is the next image is highlighted, any help would be appreciated

Where are the image files that you are editing stored?
