When I insert the digital memory card like always into my desktop computer, my Photos app appears---only now it no longer displays any choices. It's just the attached black rectangle. What do I need to do to make downloading again possible via Photos. I should mention that Photos works fine when I click on old .jpgs, etc. Thanks.

Greetings DanBoy62,
Let's check to see if you are able to view and copy the images when using File Explorer in Windows.
1. Insert the card into the card reader
2. Open File Explorer by right clicking on the Windows logo on the bottom left corner of your computer screen and then select "File Explorer" from the list.
3. Once open, click on "This PC" on the left-hand side of the File Explorer window.
4. On the main portion of the window, under "Devices", open the memory card icon.
5. Navigate into the DCIM folder and you will see sub-folders containing your images. You may drag and drop those folders to folders on your computer's hard drive or you may select specific images within the sub-folders to drag and drop to a folder on your hard drive. This will copy the images from the memory card to your computer.
If the above steps work, then there may be an issue with the Photos app and we would suggest on reaching out to Microsoft for additional assistance. You may also check to see if the image format has changed on your camera. The PowerShot G7 X Mark III camera is able to shoot images in RAW instead of JPG. Many basic photo applications, like Microsoft Photos, may not be able to read RAW files.

Thanks for your detailed reply. In the meantime, I've purchased an SD card reader (as suggested in another post here earlier this year) and by using that now can easily download files to my computer.
What would be the reason for shooting images in RAW rather than JPG files?
