Pre Recording and pre-capture through Camera Connect- R5 Mark II?

Setting up my R5 Mark ii for remote shooting with Camera Connect.  I see that I can use pre-recording when shooting video, turned on in Camera Connect, which is great.  I want to also use pre-capture in stills mode with the program and it will not let me turn it on, because my camera is communicating with Camera Connect.

Is there a way to activate pre capture for stills with Camera Connect, or another remote device?

For stills the pre-capture is activated by the half-press of the shutter button, or a wired remote release that has the two-stage shutter button connected to the cameras remote release terminal. Even Canon's own Bluetooth Remote BR-E1 cannot operate pre-capture on the EOS R5 Mark II.
