Issue: EOS VR Utility Software Not Converting EOS R7 Videos to Equirectangular Format

CPTRoc

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble with the EOS VR utility software. I've installed and registered the software, and I am attempting to convert videos shot with my EOS R7 camera. Unfortunately, the software is not converting these videos into equirectangular format.

Here are the details of my system:

  • Computer: Lenovo
  • Processor: Intel Core i9
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia RTX 4080
  • RAM: 16GB

Despite meeting what I believe are the necessary system requirements, I haven't been able to resolve this issue. Any advice or assistance to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Do you have the proper firmware on the R7?

Thanks for your response, I have the latest firmware update version 1.5.0 on the EOS R7.

You will probably have to contact Canon support, we have very few users of it here.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried searching for a Canon support page specifically for the EOS VR Utility Software but couldn't find one. Could anyone point me in the right direction or provide a link to the appropriate support page?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

I was thinking the general EOS support number:

1-800-652-2666

Thanks again for your help.

Hi, Did you get an answer? I'm having the exact problem, but in a Mac with an M3 chip. I saw at least one other person leaving a comment in a YT video with the same problem.

Sorry to say, but no - I do not have an answer yet, I still have the problem, but I am working with the Canon team on the problem.  If they find a solution to this problem, I will post it here.

The software is probably working. Someone pointed out in a FB group post that the video won't look like the 180 videos taking with the 2.8mm which is truly 180. As long as the the fish eye format changes into a slightly bigger picture the videos are being converted. I switched to using the Premiere pro plugin and saw the same, but I was able to succesfully upload them to DeoVR and watch in VR
