How to Connect Rebel T3i to Mac for Image Capture

Do I need EOS Utility for the Mac, and if so, where do I download it?

I am trying to get a Canon EOS Rebel T3i to interact with my Macbook.

I do not want to transfer photos from the camera to the Macbook; I need to connect it to the Mac for frame capture.

Right now, the T3i is connected to my camera, the camera is turned on, and Image Capture (and other applications) that would normally recognize a connected camera is unable to recognize the T3i.

Do I need the EOS Utility to get the camera and my Mac to talk to each other?

If not, what file(s) do I need to download to get them to play nice together?

Thanks.

You need EOS utility for frame capture. The standard Mac tools can only download images.

(Also try a new cable, that is usually the fix to this problem.)

Macbook Pro purchased in late 2023, Sequoia 15.4.1.

(Also, if I get a cable that is USB-C to USB mini-B to go directly from the camera to the Mac, without using any adapters, will I have more success?)

How do I get the EOS Utility? So far I'm only finding downloads for the T3i but not the EOX Utility.

Thanks.

The Rebel T3i requires EOSU2. It is not compatible with Sequoia; latest macOS that could run EOSU2 was 10.14.

If you are unable to connect to Image Capture verify in Privacy & Security that USB connections are authorized.
