I am using a 6D to create a GPS log file but I want to geotag images from other cameras. According to the manual and help files there should be an automatic way to geotag these images based on their time stamp. Unfortunately, I can not get the "fourth" icon on the bottom left corner of the image tab to show up so I can click it -- see page 12 of the manual for version 1.4 (this icon has a pin & + with AUTO underneath it).

I had several conversations with Canon and seems Canon's Map Utility will not automatically geo-tag images so I switched to Geotag. It was a little tricky to get set up right (also needs GPSBabel, exiftool, and dcraw to be fully functional). I also wrote a little C-program to automatically run GPSBabel to convert Canon's log file to .gpx format and then execute Geotag. Everything works pretty smooth now and does what Map Utility should do.
