Has Canon software been hacked?

I just tried to pair my new Canon camera to my iPhone.  The CanonConnect app redirected to an exercise web site called FitCrazeHub which asked for a credit card number.  Within about a minute I got a notification from my cc company about a fraudulent charge.  We had to tell Visa to cancel our account and send new cards.

I fear Canon's mobile software has been hacked.

(Also, I was never able to pair my camera with my iPhone.)

Thanks for joining the conversation, stephenmchaney!  Are you sure you got the official Canon Camera Connect app?  The app name you provided is similar but not a perfect match.  You can get the official app for your iPhone from the App Store right HERE.

Hope this helps!

Greetings,

Nothing has been hacked.  The download and software is working as expected.  Be sure you are downloading the correct app from Google Play or the App Store as Danny suggested.

I just completed a new install of Canon Camera Connect without issue.  Most likely your phone or network is hacked.  You should do a factory reset of your device, install antimalware software, and change all of your passwords.  You should avoid connecting to public wifi networks which are less secure but a VPN can help with that.
