Until two weeks ago everything worked fine: Canon EOS R and R5 connecting to my Macbook Pro (Big Sur) as soon as I connected a USB cable between the two.
All of a sudden that is no longer working and when I start EOS Utility 3 it says: "Canon EOS camera connection app is already running". I get this message even after a clean startup with no USB cable attached and Utility 3 not automatically starting...
I tried wireless - both "infrastructure" and "camera to laptop" and that is not working either....
All apps and OS are updated to the latest version.

I do have this app on my phone but not running and certainly not when I try to connect the laptop to the camera...
