EOS Utility 3.18.5.13 installer Crashes After Launch

Mostly_Birds

Even a freshly downloaded copy of the latest EOS Utility (EU-Installset-M3.18.5.13.dmg)  crashes shortly after launch. The install fails. The summary crash report generated by Mac OS 14.6 follows. My comments and questions are after the end of the summary.

I'm running a Mac Studio, Mac OS 14.6.

Earlier versions of EOS Utility, running under Mac OS 14.5 and now 14.6 cannot "see" a connected camera. I have a workaround using Apple's Image Capture, but it's a kludge and tedious, requiring three steps to get meaningfully named photos from the camera to the catalog. When EOS Utility worked, it was a single step.

Does anyone have any better experience, a better workaround or any idea whether Canon is working on the problem?

Thanks.

A good suggestion. I downloaded AppCleaner, installed it and used it to remove my last version of EOS Utility, 3.18.11, I believe. I downloaded a fresh copy of the eum3.18.5-installer. I dragged the installer to my desktop. And it crashed about 20% of the way through installation, as shown by the progress bar, just as before.

Apple's Image Capture is working as a partial replacement, but I miss the additional features of EOS Utility.

I am having what I think is the exact same problem. Installer crashes before ever asking for permission. I'm using Mac OS Sequoia, though when I go to Canon's download page for the EOS R, it says an older OS is detected. I choose the correct one.

I was trying to reinstall this utility because plugging my camera in to my laptop wasn't doing anything and I think the utility is supposed to launch by itself when I connect. I tried also connecting before starting the computer. Maybe I was doing it wrong but it's too late to adjust that because I did have the uninstall program for this utility and it did work, so now I don't have EOS utility and I can't install it.

I've exactly the same problem. Macbook Pro 14" M2 Max with Tahoe 26. I'm not able to install the app because it crashes during the extracting process.

I just tried to install latest version 3.16.11 on MacBook Air M2 with Tahoe. Installer executed fine. Returned an Already Installed message since it was installed previously.
