It is firmware 1.1.0   I am not even sure if its the latest or if there are versions out for it. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have it and EOSCard has it. The SHA256 checksum for both is f72f66a6ba9805330b69edd7754d5be1472260b09644039bceb414309afd4ca3 which means that they are identical and the same as I downloaded from Canon years ago.

Thank you. I am unfamiliar with a lot of this as I have not kept up in years and have taken a newly inspired interest again.

What is EOSCard? And where do I find it? Also, which firmware version is it?

Thanyou again

be careful!

Sorry, but I don't see a link to any file that is the updated firmware for the EOS Rebel XSi.  Could this be posted.  If I'm just missing it, I apologize.  Still a definite link posted would be helpful.

Why do you think you need a firmware update? There may not even be any for this camera. If Canon does not show a firmware update, that's that. Don't trust something that's from elsewhere.

And that is why people use SHA256 hashes. To make sure that things you download are not corrupted or compromised.

Way better with a SHA256 checksum than just the file size...

The latest firmware for XSi is only useful if you have this Speedlite

SHA256 hashes show the file is received as the originator sent it. They do not assure the original file is legit.  An evil file can pass the hash test too. You still have to trust the source.

"means that they are identical and the same as I downloaded from Canon years ago."

Unless the version that Peter got from Canon was hacked, he should be OK.
