EOS R6, Mk 2 Firmware not able to update

FotoPaul

When I try to update my firmware I get this message on the lcd: "Update file cannot be found. Please check memory card, reload battery and try again".

I have done these updates before so the procedure is familiar to me. I download the total file from the Canon site which includes the instructions and the firmware file. I review the instructions and format my memory card. Battery fully charged and lens removed. I load the firmware file EOSR6190.FIR to the SD card root directory and I get the above message.

I have switched SD cards, reformatted them, reloaded the firmware file and still the same results.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks.

Greetings,

Remove one of the cards from the camera and leave the one that has the .FIR file on it.  Insert that one into the forward most slot.  The one closest to the front of the camera.

Try performing the firmware update again and let us know if that helps.

Yes, I tried again and get the same results. Also I have verified the camera is reading the number 1 card.

I am at a loss. Any help is appreciated.

Is the body seeing the file but you can't get it to update? Where is it failing?

Thank you so much. This was not obvious to me. As it turns out I have the current version and wondered why Canon did not notify me of a new firmware version.

Thanks again!

Glad it helped.  Also good that Canon doesn't allow you to run an incorrect file for another body. 🙂
