EOS R6 Mark II firmware version until 1.5 limits aperture range on Speedlite EL-5

I use Fv with auto ISO, auto aperture, auto shutter speed and ETTL flash.

before Feb, include Feb, the auto f stop can be correctly set as f2.8 automatically.

but from Mar, it always set f4 as priority, and ISO often go to 6400.

today, 2024-Aug-07, I went to a shop to try another two R6 Mark II,

what I found is, if the firmware version is 1.1, auto aperture works normal, but if the firmware version is 1.4, the auto aperture will be f4 for most of the situation, except very low light, it can be f2.8

Thanks Brian,

Yes, I have to set aperture value manually for the moment, but I insist this is a defect of the firmware.

I normally take around one thousand photos within 2 hours, I have no time/energy to care for the aperture, I can't change aperture before each shooting, the ambient light changing continuously, program can be dynamic/flexible for doing this kind of job, it'll be better than manual, if do this manually, normally aperture will be fixed at f1.8 or some other value, I hope it can be dynamic among f1.8, f2.0, f2.2, f2.8, f3.2 .etc. in bright ambient light like under sunshine, program works well with aperture which is smaller than f4.

and I'm quite sure the early version of firmware already works this way well.

I hope Canon can fix this in future version.
