I am new to the R6 MarkII and I am having a very hard time doing the firmware update. The current version on the camera is 1.1.4 and I am trying to install 1.4.0
I followed the update procedure in the dmg file. I dragged the .fir file to my EOS formatted sd card (iMac Sonoma 14.5) but the camera doesn't see the new firmware file. The message I get says "Memory card containing firmware is required to update". I have tried updating through the Canon "CameraConnect" app as well with no joy. I used to feel tech savvy but with this I am lost. Please help?

Thanks Brian for jumping in.. 🙂
@gaslight,
The new security enhancement, including how to disable the password request on power on or resume from sleep is well documented.
In the firmware release notes
In the user manual for your device
https://cam.start.canon/ky/C012/manual/html/UG-01_Preparations_0060.html#Preparations_0060_5
At the top of the forums landing page
And
In this thread that I created in July.
Please take a moment to review the information. 😉

Thanks everyone, I believe I had already fixed the problem by, after a multitude of combinations (I used to do security, real security that is, for a living once), checking the 'never ask me again" or something to that effect.
It was more a comment than a cry for help -I resent gratuitous foreign government intrusion. The Europe and the EU Brussels bureaucracy has no jurisdiction over me or my Canon R6 MKII or even in North America.
I am obviously naive, but I expect the short firmware description of the problem being addressed to do only the fix and to not slip in totally unrelated surprises.
Thanks again!

Dude. Thank you so much. It didn't even occur to me to use the dial since I used the touchscreen to get to the firmware update section.

Good morning,
We see this from time to time. People tap their screen and nothing happens. Using the quick control dial on the set button works every time. 😉
