EOS M100 Canon Camera Connect App 403 Error

addisonscamera

Alright. So, I've been using my DSLR camera (Canon EOS M100) and the Canon Camera Connect App for quite a few months now, and I hadn't run into any problems until recently. For some reason, when I go to transfer stuff through the app like usual, it says I need to sign in or create a canon ID -- but that's not the problem. When I click either of these options, it immediately pops up with: "403 ERROR The request could not be satisfied." This first occurred last night, and since then I've tried a handful of different things: I deleted and redownloaded the app (multiple times), I powered my phone on and off, and I removed all devices already on my camera and attempted to add my phone again. I really don't know what to do anymore, and I'd like some assistance with this. I want to transfer my photos 😞

Thank you,

Addison Gottschalk

I have been having the same issue the past two weeks. The app worked great, and when I went to log in with my new phone it will just bring up the 403 Error. Have tried many things but nothing has worked so far. Have you found a fix for this yet?

Greetings addisonscamera,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues when attempting to sign in into your My Canon Account through the Canon Camera Connect app. With the app installed, let's go into the app settings on your device. This would be separate from the app itself and it's where we are able to view a list of apps that are installed on your phone. When selecting the Camera Connect app, check to see if there is an option available to clear cache and / or temp files. Proceed with removing this and then try again.

In case you are using the camera's access point mode where the phone connects to the camera's wireless access point, then let's try connecting the camera to a local wireless router instead, like a home router that has internet access. Have the phone connected to it as well, and when going through the connection process and where it asks you to sign in, then check to see if this resolves the Error 403 and for the app to allow for you to sign in.

Hi I have a similar issue when trying to use Camera Connect. Perhaps since the app update when I try to use Camera Connect it says Failed to sign in.You need the Chrome app to sign in. Install the Chrome App and try again.

I am using a freshly installed chrome app. There is no option to empty the cache. I would like to transfer my photos ASAP so would appreciate a reply to the above thread soon.

On Apple iOS there is not option to clear cache on the canon connect app.  I am having the same issue.  The app worked fine two weeks ago.  I took some pictures and wanted to upload the photos to my phone from my camera.  Was asked to log in or create an account.  Got the same 403 error and from what I have read that error means you don't have the permission to access the website that handles the log in credentials.  I also tried clearing all history in Safari.  I am thinking there is an issue with the app or one of the apple updates messed things up.  Any other advice would be helpful.  For now I am limited to transferring files from my cameras SD card.  I shoot raw so all my files need to be saved through the Digital Photo Professional app on my MacBook Pro.  Save the photos as a jpeg so I can post them.

I had these 403 errors on my iPhone also until I turned off VPN on my phone. I found that VPN hint here:

seriously you are my hero.  That worked.  Who knew!  Well now I enabled pair with Bluetooth and it detected my camera and pairing failed.  Tried five times and rebooted the phone twice.  Don't understand I deleted the old iPhone connection on the camera and tried to pair as if it were a new iPhone.  Detects the camera and still it fails to connect.  WTF happened the app worked fine two weeks ago.  Beginning to think I'm back in the windows world which is what drove me into the way over priced Mac universe.

Ok figured it out.  What you have to do is go into settings/blutooth on iPhone and then you have to forget your camera.  Back out of settings and relaunch the canon connect app and get your camera back into add new device mode and try again.  That worked for me anyway.
