EOS 7D Firmware Needed

7DBen

Good morning. I have an EOS 7D; It was purchased in 2012 and has not been used. I like to learn about the camera, but Cannon doesn’t provide any support because the product is at the end of its lifeline. The Firmware is corrupt and needs to be updated. I can not find the Firmware on the Canon website. Can anyone point me in the right direction or send me a link for the EOS 7D, the last issued Firmware? I truly appreciate any help here.

The last firmware for the EOS 7D was version 2.0.6 as far as I am aware.

Is the camera operable? If so how do you know firmware is corrupt? If not operable firmware most likely will not be able to be upgraded.

Thank you, my friend  John

I appreciate your taking the time to answer my call. The camera body is operational, but someone who knows these cameras very well told me that some part of the software is not working, and according to his experience, it could be a firmware issue.

Thank you again.

Both Brian and John have given best advice.

As John stated, you will not be able to upgrade firmware on a non-functioning body.

Thank you, Rick, for taking the time to answer.

If the firmware is corrupted, it may be because someone interrupted a firmware update-in-progress. That will render a camera useless, with the only fix to have Canon do surgery on it, though they probably wouldn't at this late date.

You may well have a nice-looking display piece.

Someone sent me the firmware a minute ago. As soon as I get home, I will try to update it and post the result. Thank you for caring and sharing your opinion.
