My 5D Mark IV is urunning firmware Version 1.0.4. I searched Canon support and found 7 firmware downloads from Version 1.0.2 dated 9/26/16 through Version 1.4.0 dated 5/18/23.
- Why is there no download for Version 1.0.4, the Version running on my 5D?
- It is my understanding that I must update my 5D with each firmware version download, each run in the proper sequence. Correct?
- Does Canon have a list somewhere so that I can verify I have the complete list of firmware updates?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

You don't need the previous versions, just download the latest version and install that. It will have all the previous updates in the latest download.

I'm also running an ancient firmware version. I'm reluctant to update the firmware since I have to use the camera tomorrow, Im using it for a webcam now. Should I wait till after the meeting or is it safe to do it now 🙂 Do any menu settings get changed?

This should almost be a rule of computing: Never upgrade/update before a mission critical event. Wait until you can afford any down time.
