Canon connect says connection failed with PowerShot SX730 HS

Hi, since the app has updated I haven’t had an opportunity to use it until now where my power shot sx730 will not connect to the wifi- it keeps saying connection failed and I’ve deleted the app, turned my phone on and off and cleared the data on my phone and the camera. What can I do to get it to connect?

Greetings,

There are two ways to use the Canon Connect app.  The first is ad hoc mode. The camera acts as an access point and your mobile device connects to it directly.

The second option is connecting your camera and mobile device to the same wireless network and then pairing the two.

I often use the first method because you can be anywhere and still perform transfers.

In this situation, we suggest resetting the cameras Network (only) settings.  It's also important to remove any saved camera profiles from the hamburger menu (manage registered cameras) in the CC app.  Now perform the pairing operation again.

Enable Wi-Fi on the camera. Select mobile device as connection type and confirm the camera is displaying its broadcasting SSID and password.

Now returned your mobile device, open network and internet settings and review the list of broadcasting wireless networks.  Select your camera's SSID and enter the password when prompted.  Once connected, open the Canon Connect app and reconfirm pairing.
