I’ve used the Canon Camera Connect app for over 2 years now and have never had problems with it. I’ve been trying to connect the camera to my phone and it will connect to the WiFi but tell me there is no internet connection. So I’m unable to get the pictures from my camera on my phone. I’ve deleted the app, restarted my phone, tried setting up the app all over again and still get “No Internet Connection.”
Not sure what to do to fix the problem and get the pictures off of my camera to my phone.
I have a Canon 80D.

Your phone and camera need to connect to a common WAP, wi-fi access point, that has an internet connection. If you have a wireless router for your home LAN, that would be a good connection point.

Why is an internet connection needed, for the camera to connect to the phone app? Lots of electronics pair with phones using Bluetooth, and send reams of data over it. And even if a faster connection were needed via WiFi, I'm still puzzled why an internet connection should play any role in transferring pictures from camera to phone. There are lots of times when I'd like to transfer pictures but have no internet, or it's a nuisance to connect. In general, it seems to me there is a lot of fuss involved in connecting and transferring pictures. It should be far more seamless than it is.
