I recently bought a new Macbook in hopes to process photos faster. I bought a Macbook air M2, version Sequoia Version 15.2. Unfortunately, it looks like canon still has not released a new version of EOS Utility 3 to download photos (I was reading threads back from November 2024 and there still has not been an update). I attempted to download old versions of EOS Utility 3 to try compatibility but they did not work. I even tried to download the sonoma utility 3 from the European website but this did not work. I am at a loss of what to do / how to download my photos to my computer through EOS Utility 3. I use other functions of this app as well. I will need this figured out ASAP as my line of work through photography relies on this.

Why should Canon release an update for 15.2 when 15.3 has already been released? This release marks the third major overhaul of the Sequoia since t was introduced in late June 2024. Apple announced the future update in December 2024.
Apple keeps moving the goal posts. This is why your Canon apps are not working. Apple is trying to fix the new bugs introduced by 15.2. If you have reviewed past osts, then you will see that this is a well established pattern from Apple dataing back over a decade. Get used to it.

It’s been many months since the release of this MacBook version. Is the expectation that we simply cannot use the canon app until canon updates it from their end? Seems ridiculous and non-productive from canon’s side. When can we expect to be able to utilize the app on new computers? Since it’s the whole reason I bought a new one..

This is an Apple problem. Get used to it. Apple uses its own virus protection software. You’re experiencing how it works. They disable every app not installed from the App Store.
I do not work for Canon. This social media platform is not Canon Service or Support. If you need to contact Canon, then you should contact them directly.
The date of the original release of Sequoia is entirely irrelevant once an update is released. Once an update to the update is released, all bets are off.
Apple OS updates are entirely new products, soup to nuts. As of this writing Sequoia is only two weeks old. We are working on the 4th version of the operating system in 8 months.
The only thing that has changed is the Apple IS. I used to own a Mac and got tired of having to delete and reinstall most of my third party apps multiple times per year. I got tired of this merry-go-round and stopped using my Mac for camera apps. MS Windows users do not go through this multiple times per year. The apps don’t break after updates.
Canon is not the only camera manufacturer that goes through this. All the major brands do. Google it. Apple sells cameras, too, you know. They are called iPhones.
This is an Apple problem. They disable various apps and devices from using the USB ports.

John knows more about the nuances of getting the apps to run on Macs than I do. I gave up on them. Follow his advice. Be sure to delete all traces of all Canon apps before you reinstall them. Be sure to reboot the computer after you remove the apps, and again after you reinstall the apps.

WHERE do I find the EOS2 and EOS3 apps to download? I (feel like) I've searched everywhere on the Canon site.

How did you get it to work? I was also able to download this version but after I connect from my camera, nothing happens. All of my options on the app are greyed out.

If you just want to download images a better option is to use Apple Image Capture. It’s in your Application folder. You need to authorize USB connections in the Privacy & Security section.
