Where is the User Guide for the Camera Connect App? Also, why doesn't his app transfer images with the location information?
That being said, I have successfully installed and used the app with my G7X. My informal User Guide for using this app is as follows. Any suggested "improvements" to this guide would be appreciated.
Getting Started and 1st Time Connecting

I updated the app to version 1.3.20.52, but still get the same error message...

I have 3 buttons in the app :
- Images on camera
- Remote shooting
- Camera settings
Buttons 1 & 3 work. But when pusing button 2, I get this error message.
So basically, I can not shoot remotely from my smartphone...
Please advise. Thx !
I'm not certain if all phones can do remote shooting. Tablets, yes. Phones, not so certain. Some phones lack the display resolution to implement remote shooting. Tablets have bigger higher resolution displays.
I have always thought that remote shooting was only possible with the EOS utility, which doesn't run on Android. There are two different "Wireless Communication Settings" in the camera. One is for "Connect to Smartphone". Another is "Remote Control (EOS Utility)".
But, you're getting message suggesting that it can, and some setting in the camera could be holding it up. Do you have "Live View Shooting" set for "Enable" in the Red Shooting 3/5 menu? That's the only setting that I see that could prevent remote shooting.

Ah, that's indeed the issue !
it works very well on my iPad.
Thanks for the advise !

SX530 HS trouble connecting to Android 6.0 on LG G3.
As soon as the camera recognizes the phone: "Unfortunately, Camera Connect has stopped."
I've tried uninstalling the app, resetting wifi, resetting the camera, nothing works.
So then I tried downloading the Windows software and got
"Thank you for visiting Canon iMage Gateway. This site is currently not available due to maintenance."
Strike 2!
Very disappointing and annoying.
I just purchased the camera so this is the first use.
Any ideas?

Canon is not the only major brand to suffer occasional wireless issues. All of the brands have their own problems.

If you are a White House photographer with a deadline expressed in minutes, and you are using one of the best cameras in Canon's product line (e.g., 5D4 or better), then there may possibly be a justifiable reason to use WiFi to transmit your pictures. No one else should use it. Ever. Just sayin'.

The camera itself should not be related to your ability to download software from a web site. Web site access is determined by your network administrator, your internet provider, or even security settings in your security software.
An example of the last scenario is a common setting that prevents a web page from automatically re-routing you to a new web site, which can be a common occurence for downloading software.
