I have had this camera for a long time and there was no problems with it. One day i tried putting ina memory card into the card reader and it wouldn't go in. But eventually after some pushing, it finally went in. But it said "memory card error" or "memory card locked". I have unlocked the card, tried resetting my camera, tried to upload my card onto my laptop and unlock it, even blew on the reader slot. Ive come to the conclusion that something got bent inside or something but im not sure for sure. I need it fixed asap as I am going on a trip so I wanted to know what I can do to fix it.

Please take Rick's advice, and you may even need a new reader. If you had to force the card into the reader, something is wrong with either the card or the reader. If the card fit into the camera without force, then it's probably the reader.

Greetings,
Buy a replacement card and test with that. It's not clear from your post if the card is malfunctioning in the reader, your camera or both

If the card got damaged while trying to put it in reader do not try to put in camera. Depending on what happened to card you may now damage the camera. Get a new SD card(s) for your trip.

hi! the memory card used to work and fit into the camera with no problem. i also used an old memory card to see if it was a card problem but the same problem persisted.

where can i get a new reader? and can i install it on my own?

A memory card reader is a thing you put a card into to connect to a computer. The internal SD card slot in the camera is not simply removeable, if you even can. It may well be attached (soldered)to the main circuit board.
If no SD cards go in and out properly, did you look in the card slot to see if any foreign object is down in there? Like, did the sliding lock piece come off your card and get stuck inside? Is there something sticking out from the rail on the side where the card lock would go? It would be the switch that does the actual locking.
The camera is 15 years old. Perhaps it's self-destructed.

It will be a USB device, so you just plug it into an open USB port, no fuss. You can get them at any electronics store, computer store, or places like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, also online at B&H or Amazon, but if Amazon, be sure it's sold by Amazon or the manufacturer, like SanDisk or Kingston. Simple ones run from $10-$20, but you can get pro models that are faster for upwards of $60. These usually have multiple slots for SD, Micro SD, and Compact Flash (CF) or CF Express. All you should need though is a $10-$20 quality (name brand) SD reader.
Before you buy, you will want to make sure what type of USB port your computer uses. USB type A or USB type C, some have both, and if so, get Type C as they are much faster. Your system info should include which USB ports you have, but this image shows the two types. Please not that Type C is smaller in appearance and the image isn't quite proportionate 🙂

Hi, jxnvluvv! It sounds like there might be some confusion on what exactly you're asking about. A memory card reader is a separate device that you plug into the USB slot on a computer. You would then remove the memory card from your camera, insert it into the card reader, and your computer would then be able to see its contents.
This is different from the camera's built-in memory card slot which is not designed to be removed.
So to clear up what we're trying to help you with, please let us know whether you're referring to a card reader (the separate device) or the camera's built-in memory card slot.
We look forward to your reply!

hello! apologies for the confusion. I am referring to the memory card slot in the camera its self.
