Looking for wired (or wireless) external microphone - compatible with T8i/850d

Hi folks - I'm looking for a wired (or even wireless) microphone that is compatible with a Canon T8i/850

It's for getting better sound when I'm shooting an interview than I can get with the Rode that mounts on the camera itself.

I have a quality Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun that's just sitting around - it did NOT work with my old T7i.

No matter what we tried. Just couldn't get any sound at all when it was connected.

Any tips on whether that one will work with the T8i? Or, failing that, something else that's good quality that WILL work?

Hi Steph:
I used a Rode Wireless Go pair of microphones and they have worked well on several sets of cameras.  There is now a Wireless Go2 set available.  With 2 mics both you and your interviewee can be recorded but without all the wiring.
