I've just received an LP-E6P battery from Amazon México (the seller). I want to authenticate that it is a genuine Canon product. I don't take it at face value because I've bought from Amazon (as the seller) a grip in the US that was for the European market and had no US warranty. Can anyone tell from the photos?

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing those clear photos. Based on the markings, this looks to be a genuine Canon product.
There is a specific detail on the back label that is a very positive sign of authenticity:
The Manufacturer Marking
If you look at the text in the middle of the label in your second photo, it explicitly states:
"Manufacturer: Panasonic Energy (Wuxi) Co. Ltd."
Panasonic is a manufacturing partner for our lithium-ion batteries. This text identifies that this specific battery was produced at their facility in Wuxi, China.
This specific factory designation explains why the battery is labeled "Made in China" rather than Japan, and it is a strong indicator of a genuine product, as counterfeiters rarely list the specific sub-supplier factory details correctly.
While I can't guarantee authenticity 100% just from looking at photos, the markings appear correct. If this isn't genuine, it is an extremely convincing replica.
Enjoy the new gear!

I uploaded 5 photos but it appears that only 4 show, so here is the fifth.

Made in China. Try charging it and putting it in the camera. Check the battery status.
Genuine batteries should report battery health. Most third party batteries report installation date, instead.

Thanks. It does show proper status. BTW, the battery that came with the definitely authentic camera was also made in China.

Made in China is common but Japan made batteries also exist.

For the LP-E6P in particular, and many more Canon high quality Lithium-ion batteries, it's more properly "Assembled In China". Canon designs the components (circuitry, encoding, and shell) and the power cells are made by Panasonic, which is a Japanese company. It's probable that Panasonic has a factory in China, but I couldn't find any info on that. I researched this a while back. Not sure why, LOL!
