EOS RP AC adapter and DC coupler won't power camera

Asking here as I can't ask Canon customer service--I need to first register the starter kit, which doesn't come up in the search field on the MyCanon registration page, which is required in order to get customer service help..........

I have an EOS RP camera.  The Canon DC Coupler DR-E18 and Canon AC-E6N AC Adapter that came with the Canon EOS Webcam Accessories Starter Kit doesn't power the RP, even when I connect the Canon IFC-100U Interface Cable and the EOS Webcam Utility Pro is installed on my computer (not that this should matter).

Everything works with the Canon battery, but when I when use the DR-E18 and Canon AC-E6N AC Adapter, there's no power to the camera.  All items are authentic Canon accessories.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I think I might have figured it out.  I'm using an authentic Canon extension grip (I think the EG-E1) that doesn't close with the DC Coupler DR-E18 ("dummy" battery) installed due to the coupler's wire.  I've heard that Canon cameras don't turn on if the battery door isn't closed.

There is a small pop out flap on the side of the camera body by the battery compartment on the EOS RP through which the wire can be fed with the battery flap closed. The grip would have to be removed I believe at start and and end of shooting to remove the charging coupler. My wife had the same issue and this is not widely known it seems. Means you can avoid using batteries if based in a studio or a location with mains power source !! 🙂
