EOS R7 slow framerates with LP-E6P battery

Hello!

I bought an LP-E6P for my R7. I don’t think it has been listen as compatible but I figured it’s in the same battery family so why wouldn’t it work.  Well, the camera turns on, but it won’t let me shoot at 15fps on neither mechanical mode. It seems to be cutting the FPS by 50%.  Has anybody had the same issue ?  Has this happened in the past with previous battery versions and a patch has been issued to fix it?  Thanks for the help.

Hi and welcome to the forum:
There has been a very recent firmware update to the R7 to enhance its compatibility with the LP-E6P.  If you have not done so, I would recommend getting that download installed and then see how it goes.
Here is a link to the update: Firmware Notice: EOS R7: Firmware Version 1.6.0 | Canon U.S.A., Inc.
Note, if you look to the right of this page, you should see under Announcements, the current list of firmware updates, so a good place to look in future.
I hope this resolves you issue.

Thank you so much Trevor, that did it!  I didn’t think to check for firmware since I feel I had just updated to 1.5. Much appreciated !

You are most welcome.  Happy shooting!
