I have tried to find some help with the Vixia HF M400 with little success. I have a Mirfak N2 shotgun mic intended for cameras. I have messed around with camera settings in terms of the auto mixer on the camera, the audio levels as well as the different cables TRS & TRRS. No sound or little muffled sound is in any of the videos I record with the mic.
I understand from posts about the R800 that Canon doesn't have suggestions for 3rd party microphones. However, Mirfak states that mic is a plug and play microphone not needing external power, and the mic meets specifications on what the camera is projected to support, from what I can understand. I have a portable recorder, and the microphone works just fine with that.
I know that the HF M400 is pretty old, but it's a good camera and I use it a lot. If you have any suggestions or if you need more information, please reply. Thanks!
