Canon G7x Mk II - Memory card error

Hi, I have a new Canon G7x mark ii, i also have a new, working SD card inserted- it's only been used in this camera. I have gone to download my photos, as I have previously done and it has worked fine. However, this time it read 'memory card error'. I have tried taking the sim card out - checking for damage, checking it is unlocked, and cleaning it and inside the camera slot. All are fine, but still an error. Can anyone help me on how to recover the SD card successfully with all photos undamaged ? Thank you

Have you tried using a card reader?
