Optura 20 Recorded video playback pixelated, screen turns blue

marvhec1

I own an Optura 20, which I purchased in 2008 but haven't used it since 2011. I've been playing my old video tapes, but the videos are pixelated and the videos fade away after a few minutes of playing with the screen turning back to blue while the camcorder's still playing. Any suggestions please? Thank you.

Hi marvhec1,

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The Optura 20 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you find a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Try cleaning the camcorder’s heads and using high-quality tapes.

Hi! Good morning,

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I've been doing this for the past few days and Panasonic and Sony DV head cleaners and this seems to have helped. I'll just have to continue using these tape head cleaners. Thanks again and have a great day.

Warm regards...
