We bought my nephew a HF R80. It worked well for a while, but lately it only records blinking noise.
Here is an example video of the recorded noise (.mp4 file, 19 MB):
It started doing that every now and then, but if you turned the camcorder off and on, it would work OK again.
Now it's doing it permanently and there's no way to get a normal image anymore.
You can see this broken effect in the camcorder screen, and also in the recorded videos. But the screen itself works OK because if you play old videos (recorded a while agoo), those look fine.
Is this a known problem? Any idea what to do?
Sadly my nephew lives in South America and it wouldn't be easy to send the camcoder to the US for repair. It would be fantastic if this was something that he can self-repair somehow.
Thank you for any info!

Hi there,
This sounds like it could be a sensor or internal connection issue since previously recorded videos playback fine and the issue follows the recording onto a computer. Service is likely the best option but the Canon USA repair facilities can only work and ship within the Untied States anyway, it would probably be best to have him contact Canon Latin America for a recommendation to the nearest factory service center to him.
