Is there a way to change the settings in the FS30 to record in MP4 format?

No.  The User Manual (see page 108 under Recording System) only mentions MPEG-2.

You'll find MPEG-4 and other codecs in newer equipment.  Check individual specs for details.

Thank you for the response. So then how do I change the settings because the mov file is unplayable on my computer

What specific computer (Mac? PC?) and operating system are you using? Depending upon that, we can recommend software for working with MPEG-2 footage.

I'm using a Mac 12.6.4

I would first check if QuickTime Player can open the footage.  If you, you can then export it with File | Export As...

Possible that iMovie may also be able to work with it.

While not free, Apple's Compressor application should be able to work with it.  When I launch that application, I do see help topics for MPEG-2

You might also try handbrake.

I never heard of that. I'm assuming its software?
