ES8400V tape stuck

When I’d put my canon ES8400V, 8mm camcorder  on “play” to watch the footages the screen just stays on a blank black screen and keeps saying “eject”.
I’d hit the eject button but the compartment won’t open up. The camera sounds like it’s reeling but the tape is just stuck inside. I can’t record with it or anything because it keeps saying “eject”. The screen black blank screen is started to get distorted now. 

How will I get the tape compartment to open up?

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The ES8400V is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

Your ES8400V is a tired 23-year-old camera. Perhaps it's time to move on.
