External Audio to Vixia HF R700

I recently purchased a HF R700.   I am trying to run sound from a Mackie CFX20 Mixer into my camera.   I cannot get the built in mic turned off.   HELP.

I suspect that the R700, unlike my G40, does not accept and switch between a mic or line input using that socket.
