Determine end of recording - Canon Optura 50 camcorder to computer

Is there a way to determine the end of the recording on a Canon Optura 50 camcorder tape besides playing/watching the tape to the end?

Yes, according to the Optura 50 user manual (page 86) there is an End Search button:
