Charging Vixia HF R500

It appears that the charging port is damaged.  The camera works fine with a charged battery.  Is there another way to charge the camera/battery?

If you're unable to charge your camcorder's battery internally, you may charge it, using the optional Battery Charger CG-700. For assistance locating this accessory, please contact the Canon Sales and Accessories Department. You may reach them by calling (800) 652-2666 between 8:00 AM and midnight Eastern time, seven days a week, except holidays. The agent who answers your call will be able to provide product and Canon Authorized Dealer information.

Are you trying to charge an OEM Canon battery or a third party replacement? If it's a non-Canon battery I'd try using that vendor's recommended auxiliary charger.
